Nebraska’s Fred Hoiberg hospitalized for what could be coronavirus after coaching nearly the entire game on Wednesday night.
Fred Hoiberg, head coach for the University of Nebraska men’s basketball team, has reportedly been taken to the hospital for flu-like systems just hours after the NBA announced it would be suspending its season due to a player being diagnosed with the coronavirus (also called COVID-19)
He reportedly felt ill, and was clearly visibly not well on the broadcast, but coached anyway. He is seen hanging his head and rubbing his forehead. He left the game with just four minutes remaining, potentially infecting both teams, officials and fans.
The team will now need to be quarantined until the diagnosis can be either confirmed or denied. College basketball may eventually suspend its season, following suit with the NBA.
Nebraska was 7-24 the team was forced to use two Nebraska football players due injuries and suspensions.
Many wondered why he would, in light of the very serious outbreak, coach a game anyway.
Big Ten Network says Fred Hoiberg is sick, but decided to coach the Big Ten tourney game tonight anyway.
