14th Overall: Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Kristian Fulton (CB – LSU)

Team Needs
Cornerback, Running Back, Quarterback, Edge Rusher, Offensive Tackle

Picks: 14 (1st), 45 (2nd), 76 (3rd), 117 (4th), 162 (5th), 194 (6th)

Kristian Fulton is a talented cornerback who has the skill and tools to eventually develop into a quality number one corner. He will start his career as more of a number two, but his extensive experience playing against the best wide receivers in college football should help him make a quick adjustment to the pros. There are a bunch of directions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could go here, but addressing one of the worst secondaries in the league should be considered a priority. Fulton will be at his best in press man coverage, but has the range and ball skills to succeed in zone. Adding Fulton represents a massive upgrade to the secondary, as he projects as the future number one to with recent draft picks Carlton Davis, Sean Murphy-Bunting, and Jamel Dean.

Team Impact

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have spent a number of recent day two draft picks on the cornerback position. However, due to waiting until the second round, they have missed out on the top flight talents capable of being a true number one corner. That should change this year, as the Buccaneers front office no doubt understands that the cornerback position is one of their biggest needs. The Buccaneers can look to address running back, defensive tackle, and the offensive line on day two or in the fourth round, where they will still be able to find starter level talents. Tampa Bay is strong up front both on the defensive line and at the linebacker position, and now add a true core piece to their secondary.

Fantasy Impact

Unlike with Jeffrey Okudah who is expected to morph into a rarely targeted lockdown corner, Fulton will see plenty of targets in coverage throughout his career. Barring a free agent addition he will slot in as the top corner but due to being unproven in the NFL, he will still see plenty of action. He should not want for pass deflection or tackle opportunities, and will be on the CB2 radar in both redraft and dynasty.
