15th Overall: Denver Broncos – Trevon Diggs (CB – Alabama)

Team Needs
Cornerback, Wide Receiver, Offensive Line, Defensive Tackle, Defensive End, Inside linebacker

Picks: 15 (1st), 46 (2nd), 77 (3rd), 83 (3rd), 95 (3rd), 137 (4th), 181 (6th), 215 (6th), 238 (7th), 252 (7th), 255 (7th)

With a number of solid offensive line prospects projected to still be on the board on day two, the Broncos choose to address the cornerback position. The Broncos will search for an offensive tackle in the second round, and look to address the wide receiver position with one of their three third round picks. Grant Delpit and Xavier McKinney will also be strongly considered here, but corner is the bigger need. Chris Harris is set to hit free agency, and may be more interested in joining a contender than dealing with the Broncos frustrating lack of a direction. Things could change if John Elway looks to bring in a talented veteran quarterback to compete with Drew Lock, but as it currently stands, barring the franchise tag, Chris Harris could be in another team’s uniform by the time the NFL Draft rolls around. The addition of A.J. Bouye did little to address the Broncos need for a number one corner. This makes a corner, likely Trevon Diggs, the pick here.

Team Impact

With Chris Harris’ days in Denver numbered, the Broncos are going to need to establish a true succession plan regardless of whether or not they manage to keep him around for another season. Diggs projects as a future number one corner, and would be well served by being able to learn under Harris for a season or two. However, the addition of A.J. Bouye should be a sign that the Broncos intend to let Harris walk next week. Denver may look to further address the position in free agency with a value addition, but Diggs is a potential future star.

Fantasy Impact

Trevon Diggs projects to be a highly targeted corner regardless of who is playing across from him. Rookie cornerbacks are always worth targeting in deeper IDP leagues with multiple starting CB slots. They will be tested early by shrewd opposing quarterbacks, which generally allows for more tackle opportunities. Consider Diggs is CB2 if he lands with the Broncos.
