24th Overall: New Orleans Saints – Jalen Reagor (WR – TCU)

Team Needs
Wide Receiver, Quarterback, Running Back, Inside Cornerback, Offensive Line

Picks: 24 (1st), 88 (3rd), 130 (4th), 170 (5th), 203 (6th)

With the first round talent cornerbacks all off the board, this pick will likely come down to Jalen Reagor and Henry Ruggs. Justin Jefferson has an outside shot to be drafted here, but Reagor and Ruggs are the type of true gamebreakers Sean Payton will no doubt be giddy about getting his hands on and scheming into his playbook. Reagor disappointed at the NFL Combine, but will in all likelihood make up for it at his pro day when he drops a little weight. Reagor may possess more upside than any receiver in this draft class, and could prove to be the steal of the first round.

Team Impact

The New Orleans Saints have been looking for an answer beside Michael Thomas since the departure of Brandin Cooks. Reagor will provide some of the same elements as Cooks, as he can operate on all three levels, and will be a threat to take it the distance anytime he gets his hands on the ball. Brees may not be long for New Orleans so adding a number two receiver with Reagor’s explosive qualities is a pick made with at least one more trip to the Super Bowl on Sean Payton’s mind.

Fantasy Impact

Reagor will be an immediate WR3 candidate in redraft leagues. A true number two receiver for Drew Brees will likely produce some WR1 level outings, so Reagor will be a name to target in the mid to late rounds for those looking for their fourth or fifth receiver. In dynasty leagues, his stock is a little more volatile. On one hand, he will instantly be one of the most explosive wide receivers in the league, but with Drew Brees inching closer and closer to retirement every year, his dynasty stock will be in flux. Teddy Bridgewater proved fully capable of guiding the Saints offense, but if he leaves in free agency, there will be no viable succession plan in place that does not result in a huge dropoff in the floors of Reagor, and possibly even Michael Thomas. Reagor should be considered any time after the 1.05 to 1.07 in dynasty league rookie drafts.
