4th Overall: New York Giants – CeeDee Lamb (WR – Oklahoma)

Team Needs
Edge, Cornerback, Offensive Line, Wide Receiver, Defensive Tackle, Safety

Picks: 4 (1st), 36 (2nd), 101 (3rd), 110 (4th), 151 (5th), 183 (6th), 219 (7th), 239 (7th), 239 (7th)

Left tackle Andrew Thomas from Georgia or Mekhi Becton from Louisville should be the pick here, but as we all know, Dave Gettleman marches to the beat of his own drum. In Lamb, Gettleman will see shades of the receiver he jettisoned to Cleveland in Odell Beckham Jr. Lamb is a terrific receiver with Pro Bowl potential, but this is entirely too early for him to be drafted in this particular draft class by this particular team. The Giants will be fielding calls from quarterback needy teams, and will likely look to move back so they can draft Lamb from a draft position that makes more sense. However, if they stand put, expect Gettleman to turn all the mock drafts on their heads with a surprise move like this. Giving Daniel Jones help is usually discussed through an offensive line addition context, but giving him a true number one receiver may very well help just as much. New York can find starter level offensive linemen on day two.

Team Impact

The New York Giants have two to three number two receiver types, but are lacking anything resembling a true number one receiver. CeeDee Lamb will be able to replace much, if not all of what Odell Beckham did for this offense at a portion of the cost and without any of the headaches. Lamb’s college film is littered with constant separation and highlight reel level plays. He was impossible to miss when scouting Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Mark Andrews, and Marquise Brown, and should be an instant star for the New York Giants.

Fantasy Impact

CeeDee Lamb will open the season as a WR3 type in redraft leagues, but will boast every week WR2 upside. Target share may be an issue until he masters the playbook, but there is no doubt that he will be the most talented receiver on the Giants roster. He will immediately enter the WR1 conversation in dynasty leagues, and could prove to be a redraft WR1 asset by 2021. Lamb should be drafted anytime after 1.01 in single QB dynasty leagues, and after 1.03 in superflex.
