3. TE Charles Clay (Arizona Cardinals)

He has quickly emerged as arguably the best player at his position in the league. Bombastic George Kittle is a combination of great hands and superb blocking. When he’s not making life easier for teammate/quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, he was opening up holes for the league’s second-ranked ground attack in 2019.

When it came to the NFL’s awards season (via the Associated Press), Kittle and Kansas City’s Travis Kelce were the only tight ends in the league to receive All-Pro votes from the board of 50. It added up to 33 nods for the 49ers, which should tell you something about the respect he garners.

In any case, having a little depth at the position would help. While Kittle led the club in catches (85) and receiving yards (1,053) and tied for the team lead with five TD receptions, the tight end with the second-most reception on the team was Ross Dwelley – who grabbed just 15 passes for 91 yards and two scores. And veteran Levine Toilolo is scheduled to become a free agent.

Charles Clay spent 2018 with the Arizona Cardinals, who didn’t really showcase the tight end under first-time NFL head coach Kliff Kingsbury. The one-time Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills standout played in 15 games, made 10 starts and caught 18 passes for 237 yards and one score. But the nine-year pro could be the ideal complement to Kittle.
