4. Hunter Henry

The complete lack of production from New England tight ends last year was a big reason why the Patriots’ offense struggled to carry the team to postseason success. The team’s front office simply has to upgrade the position in a big way this offseason.

The fact that this year’s draft class at the position is short on high-end talent means free agency is where the franchise needs to focus its efforts. Henry is one of the best tight ends available on the open market. His injury history with the Chargers is a red flag, but he’s flashed Pro Bowl talent when he’s been on the field and healthy.

For the record, Henry is not going to make any Patriots fans forget about Rob Gronkowski. He’s not going to physically dominate opposing defensive backs like Brady’s former favorite receiver.

What Henry can do is give New England’s offense a tight end that can stretch the field down the seam. He has good speed for the position and his size provides him with an excellent catch radius.

In short, he’s just the sort of pass catcher that Brady missed last season. If Henry can stay healthy, he has the natural ability to turn into the Patriots’ No. 1 option in the passing game. Signing him would be an expensive proposition for the Patriots, but he’s a player that can help convince Brady to stay in New England.
