3. Jedrick Wills

Jeudy isn’t the only Alabama star who should be in the frame for the Redskins in the first round. Wills is starting to firmly establish himself as the best offensive tackle in this year’s draft class. That means he will merit serious attention from Washington even if they stand pat at No. 2.

Admittedly, drafting Wills isn’t going to be a move that electrifies the team’s fan base. He still would fill a massive void for Rivera and the coaching staff. The chances of Trent Williams playing another down for the franchise are pretty remote. Wills would be a plug and play starter for the Redskins at right tackle as a rookie. He’s not an exact replacement for Williams, but he can help Washington solidify their edge blocking.

If Rivera really does want to grab Wills in the first round, he should encourage his front office to trade down. It’s highly unlikely that he’s going to be selected before the Chargers go on the clock with the No. 6 pick. Washington should check in with Los Angeles to see if they’d be interested in trading up to No. 2 to grab the non-Burrow quarterback of their choice.

The Redskins could also opt to trade further down in Round 1 and grab another high-quality tackle. A giant player like Mekhi Becton could really be attractive to Rivera as he attempts to build an offensive line capable of mauling opponents. The polish of Tristan Wirfs could also help boost the team’s pass blocking. The Redskins need to overhaul their offensive line quickly. Grabbing a blue chip prospect in the first round would be a great way to start.
