Madison and Peter have already broken up, and everyone is blaming Barb
By Josh Hill
In less than 48 hours, Peter and Madison have already called it quits following a dramatic After The Final Rose confrontation.
Love is officially dead. Well, it’s dead if your baseline for love is whatever Peter and Madison had on this past season of The Bachelor.
In less than 48 hours after we all had — what appears to be in hindsight — our last blissfully innocent and ignorant Internet Moment, Peter and Madison have broken up. Barb, Peter’s mother and someone the internet dubbed the woman who absolutely calls the manager on you, is taking most of the blame from fans as to why this happened.
Madison made the announcement on her Instagram, thanking Peter and ABC for the journey she went on this season.
"So incredibly thankful for this amazing journey I’ve had the honor of being a part of. I have grown so much and am stronger than I was going in. I have learned the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, and grace. As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things. I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did. @pilot_pete you are an amazing guy and I’m thankful for you. I will always be your biggest fan. And to the amazing women I met this season, I will love you for life. Thank you @abcnetwork for allowing me to embark on this journey."
That doesn’t sound like someone throwing stones at Peter, and it genuinely looked as though there was something between the two. Then again, it was Madison who essentially woke up from The Matrix in the penultimate episode and acknowledged that finding love on a reality show is pretty ass backwards and not a solid way to actually find a spouse.
Wait, so was Barb right?
That’s extremely open to interpretation.
Barb being staunchly anti-Madi only to have her reservations proven valid certainly seems to suggest that she was right. But to come away with that conclusion it to narrowly look at things when there’s a bigger picture.
As gauche as the After The Final Rose confrontation was between Barb and Madison, that should have been the writing on the wall for how this would end. Bachelor Nation wasted no time in connecting the dots between the tension between Madison and Barb and the breakup with Peter that quickly followed.
So what does this mean for Peter?
It probably means he doesn’t have to move out now.
Also, if he’s planning on getting back with Hannah Brown, which was the theory to end all theories this season, he may have missed the boat. As happened the first time, it looks as though Hannah has once again picked Tyler C. over Peter.
Then again, all indications are that Hannah was simply there as a friend to support Tyler after the death of his mom, which is galaxy brain kindness compared to what we saw from this season of the show.
Speaking of Tyler though, Hannah Ann has also made it known she wants to date him, which means the biggest takeaway from Peter’s season is that he should:
A) Stop lusting after women from Alabama
B) Realize that there are women in the world not named Hannah
C) Maybe work on yourself a little before using an entire season of The Bachelor to rebound from a breakup
But again, at least he doesn’t have to move out now and we still have the Barb memes, so everyone (kinda) wins.
