2020 NFL Draft: 5 players Lions could take in Round 1

4. Derrick Brown

The Lions need for pass-rushing help doesn’t mean they have to select a defensive end in Round 1. The franchise could also choose to add an interior pass rusher to enhance their front seven.

If they go that route, Brown becomes an interesting option for them as early as the No. 3 pick. He’s universally regarded as the top defensive tackle in this year’s draft class. His specialty is knifing into the opposing backfield to make plays in the backfield.

Adding Brown to the mix might also boost the production of A’Shawn Robinson at defensive tackle. Some fans might find that to be overkill, but Patricia is a coach who values options and versatility along his defensive front.

If the Lions are determined to add a difference-maker up front, Brown could end up being their first round selection. They could certainly do worse than adding a potential Pro Bowler up front.
