1. Tua Tagovailoa

The Chargers may be on pins and needles hoping to see Tagovailoa fall to them on draft night. The other choice the franchise may make is to move up into th top five to make sure they get their man.

Moving up a single spot or two could make all the difference in the world for Los Angeles. That’s what it will take to really make sure they’re in a position to grab Tua. Staying put at No. 6 leaves them vulnerable to the Dolphins or another team that might be willing to pay the cost of moving into the top five.

There are, of course, serious concerns about Tagovailoa’s medicals at the moment. Drafting him this high is based on the assumption that the Chargers’ doctors will be comfortable with the information they receive.

If they are, Los Angeles should move forward with doing what’s necessary to draft Tagovailoa. He’s not a prospect without risk, but he absolutely has All Pro potential. His accuracy and feel for the game make him a great bet to be a productive starter in his rookie season.

The gap between Tagovailoa and either Love or Herbert is significant. That’s why the Chargers need to do what it takes to move up and grab the second best signal caller on the board. They’re a team with a lot at stake in the first round.
