2020 NFL Draft: Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock
By Conor Dorney
Malcolm Jenkins failed to record an interception last season for the first time since 2011 and coming into his age 35 season, the Eagles could look to infuse some youth into the back end of their defense.
Clemson’s K’Von Wallace lined up all over the field for Dabo Swinney’s team over the course of his collegiate career and could be a perfect fit for Philadelphia in round three.
Wallace excels when playing downhill but still has plenty of athleticism to play deep, as evidenced by his posting of one of the best three-cone times of the entire NFL Combine. Even if his coverage skills aren’t his calling card, Wallace offers nice upside as a run defender in subpackages.
Josh McCown provided a valiant effort in the Eagles’ playoff loss to the Seahawks, but his retirement opens up a spot for the club’s backup quarterback spot behind Carson Wentz.
After the flurry of quarterbacks expected to go in the top 50 picks, Anthony Gordon could be an excellent value pickup for Philadelphia in round three.
Gordon lit up the stat sheet in Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense at Washington State, but he’s much more than a “system” quarterback. He has plenty of arm strength and touch as a passer to excel at the next level. Gordon’s background as a baseball player also helps to give him an excellent mechanical foundation, more so than some of the other developmental prospects in the class.
Sure, Gordon could use some work in the decision-making department, but there’s definitely a lot to like. An Andy Reid protege like Pederson could see a ton of potential in Gordon and handle him similar to the way the Chiefs did with Patrick Mahomes.
