NFL Free Agency 2020: 3 Targets for each team
Denver Broncos
1. Jack Conklin
2. Jamie Collins
3. Robby Anderson
The Broncos have needed improvements at the tackle position for what feels like forever. John Elway has whiffed on far too many quarterbacks to watch Drew Lock, who showcased signs of promise in the second half of 2019, fail because of shoddy protection.
A substantial investment in a 25-year-old talent like Conklin would be a wise one by Elway, who doesn’t have to be shy about spending with $53m of cap space in his arsenal.
Collins may be reluctant to bid farewell to the cold but comforting surroundings of New England a second time after his dismal spell in Cleveland. The Broncos, though, should value the linebacker’s versatility and playmaking ability highly.
He had seven sacks, three interceptions – including one returned for a touchdown – seven passes defensed and three forced fumbles last season. Surely a defensive specialist like Vic Fangio could get the same kind of production out of the former second-round pick?
Denver’s pass-catching options are enticing. Courtland Sutton broke out with a 1,000-yard year and Noah Fant’s devastating athleticism eventually came to the fore in his rookie season. A downfield weapon like Anderson is what the Broncos are lacking at wideout and he would make life much easier for the cannon-armed Lock.
