Chicago Bears

1. Bashaud Breeland
2. Jameis Winston
3. Mario Addison

For all their posturing about being completely behind Mitch Trubisky, the Bears must be considering outside options at quarterback.

Winston’s proclivity for turning the ball over won’t appeal, but his upside is on another level to that of Trubisky, who has limited what should be a dynamic offense given Matt Nagy’s play-calling acumen.

The issue for the Bears with Winston will be the price. They are projected to be just $24m under the cap and, if other interested parties offer him deals in the region of $30m a year, the Bears may be unable to compete.

Chicago is another team that may have to do much of its work during the second wave. Breeland proved himself worthy of widespread interest from corner-needy teams by playing a pivotal role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl triumph.

Mario Addison isn’t a perfect fit for the Bears defense and is in the latter half of his career but should present value for money as a rotational pass rusher. Addison has at least nine sacks in each of his last four seasons in Carolina, showing no signs of slowing down as he enters his age-33 campaign.
