Green Bay Packers

1. Nick Kwiatkowski
2. Halapoulivaati Vaitai
3. Michael Pierce

The Packers aren’t exactly swimming in cap space. Green Bay is set to start 2020 just $18.5m under the cap but the need to replenish the roster could hardly have been more obvious than in the Packers’ NFC Championship game demolition at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.

Linebacker Blake Martinez was tormented by the Niners in the regular season and the playoffs. Paying for a potential upgrade in the form of Kwiatkowski is a smart use of the limited resources Green Bay has.

The obvious problem in each of the defeats to San Francisco was run defense. The Packers were gashed by the 49ers in both matchups. Pierce has forged a reputation as one of the league’s premier run stoppers and, even though he is only 27, the Packers are unlikely to have to pay a premium to sign him.

What Green Bay does at tackle will hinge on whether they bring Bryan Bulaga back. If they do not do so, Vaitai would offer tackle-guard versatility and could serve as the swing tackle should the Packers find a prospect they would prefer to start on the right side of the offensive line.
