Atlanta Falcons

1. Bashaud Breeland
2. Jason Pierre-Paul
3. Sheldon Day

Beyond bolstering their pass rush, the Falcons may not feel the need to make sweeping changes to their defense following its resurgence down the stretch last season.

Despite being only $4.5m under the projected cap entering Monday, the Falcons are opened up more with the releases of Desmond Trufant and Devonta Freeman. Look for them to be active in free agency.

With Trufant being released, Bashaud Breeland becomes an appealing option. Breeland is looking for his third team in three years after winning the Super Bowl with the Chiefs. Breeland would bring competition to the secondary and boasts the flexibility to play in the slot as well as on the boundary.

An affordable veteran, Pierre-Paul has at least seven sacks in each of his last four seasons. Day may be one of the odd man out on a deep 49er defensive line but has the ability to create disruption from the interior despite being slightly undersized. If the Falcons can hit on some second-wave signings, they could soon be back in contention in the NFC.
