9. Falling-out-of-bounds TD vs. Chargers

Right after pulling off one of his signature throws, a scrambling heave to a downfield receiver just in nick of time, Patrick Mahomes dropped in a touchdown pass in the same fashion. There’s no such thing as a throwaway or dead play when he’s under center.

His receivers know it, too. Mahomes makes it a point to have a never-die mentality when it comes to plays. There’s always an opportunity to make something positive happen, regardless of how things break down or deviate from the drawn-up play call.

Robinson is again the recipient of a highlight touchdown pass from Mahomes. As he works his way across the field, Mahomes is buying himself time and staying well behind the line of scrimmage. Once the defense begins to close in, he begins to drift towards the sideline.

It didn’t matter, though. Mahomes gets the ball off with a defender draped around him and right before he falls out of the frame. Robinson is there to catch it, and the Chiefs have their first touchdown of a game that turned out to be one of the better ones of the 2018 season.
