14. Bronson Koenig: No. 2 Xavier vs. No. 7 Wisconsin – 2016 Round of 32

Bronson Koenig is a name that will live on for all Wisconsin Badgers fans, as they take down the favorite Xavier in dramatic fashion. He not only made the game-winning shot but he also made the game-tying shot 12 seconds earlier. Bronson Koenig is the definition of clutch. An offensive foul by Xavier’s Edmond Summer and a timeout by the Badgers gave them this chance to win it. Then, an iconic shot came next.

Koenig took the pass, ran to the corner, and threw up the shot as the clock was racing towards zero. He had a hand in his face, but none of it mattered. Koenig sunk the shot completely. It was such an epic shot, it broke Bill Murray. It left the defender to just stand there with his hands up as if he was disputing a foul. But there was no foul. The shot just went in.

The upset factor of this comes in to play as well. Wisconsin was supposed to be one of those “happy to be here” teams. Instead, they took out one of the teams who were rolling coming into the tournament. They beat the No. 1 team in the nation a couple of weeks before in Villanova. Seton Hall seemed to be their kryptonite, but besides two losses to them, they won 18 of their 20 games in 2016. However, the loss to Seton Hall in the Big East Tournament might have ruined any momentum they had.

Wisconsin went on to lose their next game against Notre Dame, but for a few days, their Cinderella story was front and center thanks to one man and his miraculous shot.
