Tom Brady announced his departure from the New England Patriots on Twitter today to an uproar of mourning from fans and excitement from haters.
In his announcement, Brady used the phrase “although my football journey will take place elsewhere…” to officially make his breakup with the Patriots known. He made two separate announcements saying farewell to both the Patriots organization and fans.
With New England, Tom Brady was the most accomplished quarterback in NFL history. He played 20 seasons, appeared in nine Super Bowls, won six, and was named MVP of four. He was league MVP three times, voted All-Pro five times, and made 14 Pro Bowls. He won 77% of the games he started and is second all time in both passing yards and passing touchdowns.
No matter where Brady plays the last stage of his career, he will always be a legend in New England. Here are some of the best reactions from Patriots Twitter following the news:

Thank you for everything Tom Brady. You have filled my life and Pats fans around the world with happiness, joy and the best football we will ever see. I have been cheering for you since I was 5 and will never stop. It is going to be very strange seeing you in not a Pats uniform pic.twitter.com/jhNmTEt4og

Tom Brady doesn’t owe anyone anything. This 20 year run was as magical as it was unexpected. The Pats were the laughingstock of the NFL for years. 6 Super Bowl titles now.
