The Carolina Hurricanes took some time out of their busy schedules to dole out some much-needed kind words to all 30 NHL teams on Twitter.
We’ve hit nearly a week without professional sports in any form — including hockey — due to the coronavirus pandemic. This time away has impacted many people, but for the Carolina Hurricanes, now was as good a time as any to send some positivity out into the world.
On Wednesday, the Hurricanes tweeted a thread to all 30 other NHL teams, picking one point of positivity to highlight about each club, from the silly to the downright heartwarming.
Of course, one of the first shoutouts the Hurricanes made was to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who famously supplied Carolina with Dave Ayres, the emergency backup goaltender who won over hearts just a few weeks ago.
@MapleLeafs Your arena staff really find ways to go above and beyond

The Hurricanes spread some love to their Metropolitan Division rivals, the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
@penguins Thank you for taking care of Hurricanes legend, Patrick Marleau

@Capitals We hope y’all are well and stay safe. Last year’s playoffs wouldn’t have been the same without you
— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) March 18, 2020
@BlueJacketsNHL Can’t wait to hear those cannons again
— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) March 18, 2020
@NJDevils Red, white and black looks good on you, too
— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) March 18, 2020
The team gave a nod to the St. Louis Blues and their Gloria moments from their Stanley Cup Final run from last year.
@StLouisBlues PLAY GLORIA

Carolina also gave us some ideas for our social distance binge watching.
@AnaheimDucks We plan on watching the Mighty Ducks A LOT in the coming weeks
— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) March 18, 2020
And even shouted out the unnamed Seattle franchise that will play their first hockey games during the 2021-22 season.
@NHLSeattle_ Can’t wait for you to unleash whatever you will unleash as your mascot
— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) March 18, 2020
Finally, the Hurricanes sent the NHL themselves a special message that we can all get behind in this void without sports.
@NHL We miss you, friend. Can’t wait to get back to hockey
— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) March 18, 2020
The thread on Twitter isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but overall is a nice bit of joy and happiness in these days even without the sport we all love.
