Baltimore Ravens: A-

Swinging the deal for Calais Campbell before things really got started was an ace move by the Ravens’ front office. Most of the action after that has also been pretty solid.

Franchising Matt Judon might be a slight overpay, but Baltimore made up for it by signing Michael Brockers to a team friendly deal. The Ravens’ offseason is off to a terrific start.

Cincinnati Bengals: C-

The Bengals were uncharacteristically big spenders in this free agency period. That doesn’t mean much of the business they conducted was all that good.

Franchising A.J. Green was the right move, but it was far from inspiring. The Trae Waynes deal is going to look awful as soon as he steps onto the field for Cincinnati. Getting D.J. Reader on a reasonable deal doesn’t make up for the rest of the poor decisions.

Cleveland Browns: B+

The Browns struck early in free agency to make Austin Hooper the highest-paid tight end in football. Some might quibble with that value given his lack of ability as a blocker, but he should give Baker Mayfield a safety blanket that he desperately needs.

The biggest moves for Cleveland were adding talent at both offensive tackle spots. The Jack Conklin deal is going to do wonders for Mayfield’s protection. Even Andrew Billings should give the Browns a subtle, but much-needed upgrade on the edge.

Pittsburgh Steelers: D

In fairness to the Steelers, making splashy free agent signings isn’t really a part of the organizations’ DNA. Their inactivity this week still is enough to earn them a D.

Franchising Bud Dupree was a fine choice, but it won’t be an overly-efficient deal next season. The only other thing Pittsburgh did was sign a Watt brother to play fullback. Derek is a nice player, but paying a fullback over $3 million per season isn’t good business.
