New York Knicks: Softening the blow of another miserable year

Let’s see here: In 2019-20, the New York Knicks have fired their head coach, axed their team president, issued more embarrassing and questionable press releases than most teams have in their entire franchise histories, posted an ugly 21-45 record, alienated their No. 1 fan in Spike Lee and heard “Sell the team!” chants ring through Madison Square Garden during home games.

Nobody would be happier than Knicks fans if the NBA completely canceled the rest of the regular season and put this team out of its misery.

Mitchell Robinson and RJ Barrett look like future cornerstones, but even that’s hard to enjoy when interim Mike Miller carries on the frustrating traditions of his predecessor with heavily scrutinized lineup decisions. Nobody wants to watch 34-year-old Taj Gibson start in 2020. Nobody wants to see Elfrid Payton play over Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith Jr. Just “sim to end of season,” please.
