3. Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina defensive tackle

Kinlaw is another player who will appeal to the Browns if they want to inject some life into their defensive tackle rotation. He’s not as polished as Brown is on the inside, but his explosive athletic traits arguably give him an even higher ceiling.

The former South Carolina star really raised his stock with some dominant work during practices at the Senior Bowl. Gamecock fans saw glimpses of that sort of play during Kinlaw’s career, but his lack of consistency was maddening at times for his collegiate coaching staff.

The Browns coaching staff has to believe they can succeed where the staff at South Carolina failed. Getting Kinlaw out of the classroom and onto the practice field should help improve his mental and physical consistency.

Spending a top-10 pick on a player like Kinlaw would be a gamble for the Browns, but it’s a pick that could pay off big in a relatively short amount of time. Cleveland could try to trade down and still pick up Kinlaw a few picks later, but that would represent a significant gamble.
