Fifth Round

Cincinnati Bearcats. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 169. 830. TE. Josiah Deguara

Going with a tight end in the fifth round with the No. 169 overall pick seems like a good idea for the Saints to make in the latter part of their 2020 NFL Draft. A player who could be readily available to them with this selection is Josiah Deguara of the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Deguara is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds. He had 92 catches for 1,117 yards and 12 touchdowns during his five-year career with Cincinnati. The bulk of his stats came in his redshirt junior and senior seasons playing for head coach Luke Fickell. Brees can never have enough targets to throw the ball to in the red zone. Deguara has to be in consideration for the pick here.

Sixth Round

Alohi Gilman. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. 203. 819

With the last pick the Saints have in the draft, they should look at addressing the safety position. Once again, they will not be drafting a defensive back out of The Ohio State University with this pick. They will go with Notre Dame Fighting Irish safety Alohi Gilman with their sixth-round selection here.

Gilman 5-foot-10 and 202 pounds. He had 244 total tackles split between his college career at Notre Dame and the Naval Academy before that. Though he only had three interceptions over three seasons in college, Gilman did force five fumbles, so he showed he can still be a disruptor on defense because of his tackling ability.

Seventh Round

The Saints do not have a seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. This stems from a trade with the New York Giants where they sent last year’s fourth-round pick and this year’s seventh-round to the Big Apple to land former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple
