4. Antoine Winfield, Minnesota defensive back

Winfield is a player that needs to be drafted by the right coaching staff to really become an impact starter in the NFL. The Titans are a coaching staff who could definitely put his talents to use.

The former Minnesota star is not a great athlete. That’s why he will be forced to toggle back and forth between cornerback and safety at the next level. He will be better utilized as a nickel back who can play both roles seamlessly.

What Winfield does have is an exceptional feel for pass coverage. He simply finds a way to get in the right position on almost every snap. He lacks the athleticism to recover when he does make a big mistake, but those instances are few and far between.

Smart NFL defenses know they need to have at least five defensive backs who can play meaningful snaps every week. Drafting Winfield would help the Titans match up with the versatile passing attacks that are becoming all the rage in the modern game. He’s never going to test well, but he always finds ways to make plays when the lights flip on. The Titans could do a lot worse than Winfield at No. 29.
