Seattle Seahawks

Hopefully, the Seattle Seahawks will be able to keep Jadeveon Clowney, because he is everything they need. Clowney was a massive addition for the ‘Hawks last offseason, as Seattle fleeced Bill O’Brien in another one of the Texans’ general manager’s “genius” (the air quotes could easily go over his job title, too) moves.

Even if the Seahawks can’t hold onto Clowney, this has been a successful offseason for Seattle. They added a quality guard in Chance Warmack, nabbed tackle depth to replace George Fant, reunited with the still-effective Bruce Irvin, and snagged a potential difference-maker for Russell Wilson at tight end in Greg Olsen. The Seahawks also re-signed Jarran Reed.

Olsen and Irvin are possible veteran X-Factors for the Seahawks organization, but the story of their free agency will be judged by the futures of Clowney and potential “Plan B” Everson Griffen, who will be available. Griffen could be the latest former Vikings star to join Seattle, but Clowney would definitely be the preferred option.

Since Clowney hasn’t signed anywhere yet, the Seahawks could get him on a one-year deal so as to avoid a long-term commitment. Clowney could help Seattle win a Super Bowl, and he’d have more help with Irvin in the lineup.
