In the team’s first draft in Las Vegas, can the Raiders add talent bright enough for a spot on the Strip? It’s time to find out with this seven-round mock.

After a tumultuous 2019 offseason, general manager Mike Mayock was able to right the Raiders’ ship enough to come out of the long season with a respectable 7-9 record. The team has continued to be aggressive through this latest free agency period, spending millions to upgrade the linebacking corps with the signings of Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkowski.

Now, in the team’s first official draft as the Las Vegas Raiders, Mayock must continue to build the roster in hopes of competing for a playoff spot next season. What additions could make sense for Vegas in the 2020 NFL Draft? Let’s take a look with this seven-round Raiders mock.

Oh, and don’t forget…wash your damn hands.

1st round

. CB. Buckeyes . Jeffrey Okudah. 12. player. 812

While I don’t necessarily expect Jeffrey Okudah to make it to the No. 12 overall pick, I do expect Mayock will be aggressive in targeting him and exploring a number of trade-up scenarios to get him.

Okudah is the clear-cut CB1 in this class and has a good chance to be the first player off the board not named Joe Burrow or Chase Young. The former Buckeye excels at press technique on the outside and watching during defensive back drills during the Combine was like watching poetry in motion.

The Raiders aggressively pursued cornerback Byron Jones in free agency, eventually losing the bidding war to the Miami Dolphins. However you look at it, it’s clear Mayock intends on upgrading his secondary and Okudah is the perfect target if he’s able to find a trade partner somewhere in the 5th-8th overall range.

WR. Sooners . CeeDee Lamb. 19. player. 815.

Mayock has stressed the need to put points on the board and one player who can certainly help in that department is Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb. Having spent a great deal of time scouting the Oklahoma program over the past two years, Mayock and his staff should be plenty familiar with Lamb and the excitement he would immediately bring to the Vegas offense.

Lamb excels at making defenders miss and is a threat to score as soon as the ball touches his hands. There are some concerns about his deep speed, but running a 4.50 40-yard dash at the Combine quieted those for the time being. He averaged a ridiculous 21.4 yards per catch in his final season with the Sooners in 2019, and would immediately become the big-play threat that Mayock had hoped he found once upon a time in Antonio Brown.

Depending on the price the team pays to trade up for Okudah, a trade back from this pick is also possible with quarterback Jordan Love and linebacker Kenneth Murray among the potential fits later in the first round.
