NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Tankathon sim gives Knicks No. 1 overall pick

This is a bit of a gamble on fit with Coby White already manning point in Chicago, but look no further than the Oklahoma City Thunder this season to find a unit having success with multiple creators. Hayes is listed at 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-8 wingspan, and projects as a better outside shooter than his current numbers with Ulm would indicate. He is not the best athlete and there would be defensive questions about how the Bulls deploy him with one or both of White and Zach LaVine.
Hayes would give Chicago another creator to help run the floor when LaVine or White needs a blow, and he should mesh well enough to share the floor with the star guard as well. Hayes projects to defend at two positions with his size and length and potentially even bigger wings as well if he adds weight and strength. His shooting hasn’t been great so far, but hovering in the mid-80s at the free-throw line the past couple years is encouraging. The 18-year-old is far from done rounding out his game and seems to possess the unselfish nature required to play next to a high-usage guards guard like LaVine and White.
