An early look at Villanova’s 2020-2021 roster

There may not be a team in the country set up better for success next season than Villanova. If Bey decides the NBA can wait a year there is a chance Villanova could retain their entire rotation and add a few key pieces to it as well.

The fulcrum point for the Wildcats is Bey, whose outstanding sophomore season shot him up draft boards. There is a decent shot that Bey will be a first-round pick in June (or when the draft is held), but even if he goes pro Villanova will be set up well.

The Wildcats are already poised to gain an internal boost with better health from Bryan Antoine, who was one of the most talented players in his recruiting class before being plagued by a shoulder injury. Former Tulsa transfer Caleb Daniels, who averaged 16.9 points per game in 2018-2019, is also eligible to give the Wildcats even more punch on the perimeter.

All of the returning players mean that Wright doesn’t have to do a ton to augment his roster, which will benefit significantly from players like Robinson-Earl, Moore and Cole Swider gaining another year of experience. Gillespie and Samuels will continue to provide leadership as seniors, so all of the ingredients are there for the Wildcats to make another run at a championship.

Villanova has a tremendous shot to be the No. 1 team in the preseason AP Poll. They’re already No. 1 in the FanSided way-too-early Top 25. If everything works out for Villanova in terms of health Wright could have an outstanding chance to win his third national championship in a span of just six years.
