Joe Burrow delivers coronavirus PSA with Heisman Trophy casually in the background
Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow delivered a PSA about what people can do to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Joe Burrow wants you to wash your hands with soap and water and to stay six feet away from each other. Burrow, the former LSU Tigers quarterback who won the Heisman en route to the national championship last year, delivered a PSA about what people can do during this global pandemic.
Burrow posted a video to his Twitter urging people to follow directions that the government and CDC are laying out. He pleads with people to stay inside, self-quarantining, wash your hands and how we can “flatten the curve” so we can get back to a sense of normalcy.
Burrow follows his former coach, Ed Orgeron, who delivered an impassioned coronavirus PSA and made several media appearances pleading with the people of Louisiana and across the country to have a “game plan” to beat this virus.
"“This is obviously a crazy time for everybody right now,” Burrow said in a video he posted to Twitter. “I think it’s more important now than ever to follow directions that the Government lays out. They are saying to stay inside, self-quarantine, wash your hands and limit the spread of this virus so we can flatted the curve a little bit and get back to a normal life. The only way we can do that is if we follow instructions.“Everyone wants this to end as quickly as possible. We just have to do everything in our power to limit the spread of this and flatten the curve.“I think something important right now is that a lot of kids in Ohio get their meals from school, so I think donations to the food bank, if you are financially able, is really important right now for a lot of people.“Everyone stay inside, stay quarantined and ‘Geaux Tigers’.”"
Burrow’s message is obviously an important one. There may be people out there who are skeptical about who to believe during this time. Some people don’t want to believe the media, others don’t want to believe what they are hearing from the president. The bottom line that Burrow expresses in his message is to listen to the experts, specifically the CDC.
And the sooner everyone, literally, everyone, heed these warnings and takes the safety measures seriously, then we can move forward. If we don’t, it puts the college football season in jeopardy.
