Baltimore Ravens

While Patrick Mahomes won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs and should still be regarded as the best overall player in the NFL, Lamar Jackson was undoubtedly the best player in the league last season.

Jackson carried the Baltimore Ravens to being the best team in the regular season, as they won 14 games behind his golden arm and electric feet.

Any disrespect towards Jackson’s quarterbacking is unfounded, as he is an excellent decision-maker who has one of the most accurate deep balls in the league. Jackson’s mechanics and playmaking ability are excellent, but in order for the true extent of his abilities to be unleashed, the Ravens need to add a top target.

Jackson had a jaw-dropping 113.3 QB Rating with 36 touchdowns and a mere six interceptions last season, showing off the perfect mix of playmaking and restraint. But you can only imagine how much better his numbers, such as his 7.8 yards per pass attempt, would have been if his best wide receiver wasn’t rookie Marquise Brown.

While Brown had his moments of stardom with seven touchdowns, he only had 46 catches for 584 yards. And Jackson’s No. 2 wide receiver was journeyman Willie Snead.

The Ravens haven’t signed a star pass-catcher for Jackson this offseason, but trading for Brandin Cooks would be a gift for their MVP quarterback. Jackson could have a season for the ages with Brown and Cooks as targets, as Cooks can also get loose downfield or do everything a No. 1 receiver can do.

With Cooks, the Ravens could go from a flawed offense buoyed by arguably the NFL’s best player to true Super Bowl contenders. Adding Cooks can make the battles between the Chiefs and Ravens for AFC dominance all the more enticing.
