NFL Draft Prospects: 5 most underrated players slated to go in Round 1
3. CeeDee Lamb
This year’s draft class is absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position. Ironically, that’s muted a lot of debate over which prospect is best suited for success at the NFL level.
With all due respect to Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III, Lamb deserves to be the first wideout off the board. He may not have elite straight line speed, but watching him on film at Oklahoma proves that he has the ability to run away from defenders. Any concerns about his 40-yard dash times are overblown.
Instead, scouts should focus on just how easy he made the game look during his collegiate career. Lamb’s exceptional ability to use his body to make catches down the field will translate directly to the NFL level. More importantly, so will Lamb’s ability to catch the ball and escape defenders who appear to be in position to get him on the ground.
It may take Lamb a little bit more time to adjust to life in the NFL than some of the other receivers projected to go in Round 1, but he’ll be the most productive player over the long haul. He’s got too many things you simply can’t teach.
