Third Round

Clyde Edwards-Helaire. 76. player. 817. . RB. Tigers

The Buccaneers will almost surely draft a running back with some pass catching acumen, perhaps as early as the second round. But if they wait, that will put Edwards-Helaire on their radar.

Edwards-Helaire had a breakout campaign alongside Joe Burrow in 2019, with 1,414 rushing yards (6.6 yards per carry) and 16 rushing touchdowns along with 55 catches for 453 yards and a other score. A low center of gravity (5-foot-7) with sufficient power and balance easily invites comparisons to Maurice Jones-Drew, and if “clutch” statistics mean anything 36 percent of his carries went for first downs or touchdowns last season.

The Buccaneers don’t seem ready to give up on Ronald Jones, who had over 1,000 total yards last season. But they need someone to work alongside him, and Edwards-Helaire should instantly spark what has been a lagging rushing attack.
