Fourth Round

Tennessee Volunteers. 126. EDGE. Darrell Taylor. player. 839. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

With the Rams addressing all three areas along their offensive line, they will now want to solve possible depth issues on defense the rest of the way. Even though they were able to sign former first-round pick of the Chicago Bears in Leonard Floyd to replace Fowler, the Rams would be wise to use their fourth-round pick at No. 126 overall on a guy like Darrell Taylor out of Tennessee.

Taylor is 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds. After being redshirted in 2015, Taylor would eventually land playing time under Butch Jones in ’16 and ’17, registering 4.5 tackles for a loss of yardage and three sacks during his redshirt sophomore year playing defensive end. However, a scheme change under new Volunteers head coach Jeremy Pruitt would pay dividends in 2018 and 2019.

Taylor’s sack numbers went up every season he was in Knoxville. He had eight sacks and 11 tackles for a loss of yardage as a redshirt junior in 2018, following that up with 8.5 sacks and 10 tackles for a loss of yardage during his final year in college. Consistency and high-end production made Taylor quite the player in the SEC.

The Rams should look to Taylor to be their new double-digit sack guy. However, he can come in as a situational pass rusher and be able to get a handful of sacks as a rookie in 2020. Given that he played in an elite conference and against great competition, this could be one of the better value picks the Rams made in the entire draft.
