2020 NFL Draft: 5 players Patriots could take in Round 1
By Nick Villano
Ezra Cleveland
This one is off the board a little bit. Ezra Cleveland is one of the most interesting prospects in the entire draft. With Boise State, he dominated on the offensive line and he’s versatile, playing almost every position. That’s where the Patriots are going to show their interest.
The Patriots need help along the front, especially if Joe Thuney is traded off the franchise tag. Ted Karras started at center last year and left for the Miami Dolphins in free agency. Additionally, longtime center David Andrews is coming back from blood clots that forced him to miss all of 2019.
Cleveland is possibly the most athletic offensive lineman in the draft, something showcased by his dazzling display at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
He is a pull tackle or guard, sometimes showing better agility than the pass rushers trying to get around him. He was a Day 2 guy until the combine, forcing many analysts to go back and look at his tape. After dominating in the Mountain West, Cleveland may have done enough to go in the first.
