2. Jacob Eason
The scouting community is very comfortable with the idea that Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert and Jordan Love will all go in Round 1. The question remains whether or not a fifth signal caller fill find his way into the bottom of the first round.
Lots of scouts believe Jake Fromm could be that guy, but he’s the wrong former Georgia quarterback to bet on. It’s much easier to believe a team will fall in love with Eason’s big arm than Fromm’s accuracy on short throws.
The knock on Eason is that he doesn’t process information quickly enough to get through his progressions. That’s something that an NFL coaching staff should be able to help him with. Eason isn’t ready to play meaningful snaps right away, but he could turn into an excellent starter in another year or two.
Quarterbacks always rise more than people think it the draft. That gives Eason a chance to sneak into the bottom of Round 1. That would be a reach for the team that selects him, but gambling on a potential franchise quarterback in the draft is always understandable.
