2. Green Bay Packers

Perhaps football fans in Titletown got spoiled a little a year ago when a franchise not known for opening up its wallet during free agency poured out some substantial cash to add a few notable veterans. And it’s safe to say that the work of general manager Brian Gutekunst paid off handsomely with the additions of outside linebackers Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith, safety Adrian Amos and guard Billy Turner.

The Green Bay Packers were a six-win team in 2018 and then more than doubled their victory total this past season on the way to a 13-3 mark and their first NFC North title since ’16. But this offseason to date, it’s been a little different as the franchise has gone bargain hunting. That’s not to say that the Pack hasn’t landed some solid additions and filled some needs in their pickups. But it’s safe to say things are a bit different than a year ago at this time.

In any case, the team added linebacker Christian Kirksey and right tackle Ricky Wagner even before the official start of free agency as the players were released by the Browns and Lions, respectively. Then the Packers, as anticipated, watched Blake Martinez and Bryan Bulaga sign with the Giants and Chargers, respectively. Aaron Rodgers just got a new target in wideout Devin Funchess, who missed most of ’19 after signing with the Colts. So is Gutekunst done when it comes to adding experienced pros this year?
