7. Patrick Kane – 2013 Western Conference Finals, Game 5
Over the course of the lockout shortened 2012-13 season, it wasn’t a question if the Chicago Blackhawks would win the Stanley Cup, but when.
The Hawks were on another level that year, losing just seven times in regulation during the 48-game season. Lead by Patrick Kane on offense and backstopped by the tandem of Corey Crawford and Ray Emery, the Blackhawks were dominant on both offense and defense. The team averaged 3.10 goals per game, second only to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and allowed the fewest goals in the league at 2.02 per game.
In the 2013 Western Conference Finals, they would host the defending champs and soon-to-be arch rival, Los Angeles Kings. The Blackhawks made short work of the Kings, with Patrick Kane recording a hat trick and scoring the game winning goal in the second overtime of game five.
The everlasting image of this goal comes from Kane whipping out the “Heartbreaker” celly after snapping the puck past Jonathan Quick, just to rub salt in the wound.
The Hawks would go on to claim their second Cup in four years, capping off a dominant year.
