Players the Dodgers should target via trade to make sure they win it all in 2020
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be among the World Series favorites when the 2020 season starts, yet they could strengthen their position even more via trades.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have done just about everything they can do in the regular season over the past few years. In 2019, they went 106-56 to win their seventh straight National League West title, yet the season ended again without a championship. Their latest heartbreak was a loss in the Division Series to the eventual World Series champion Washington Nationals.
If and when we have a 2020 season, the pressure on Dave Roberts and his team will continue to grow. Everyone figures that they’ll again run away with the NL West; in fact, they were the favorites even before they landed Mookie Betts and David Price in a trade with the Boston Red Sox.
Betts brings a strong skill set to an already loaded offense that is led by reigning NL MVP Cody Bellinger. The starting rotation has lost some talent this offseason but should still be solid, led by Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler. And the bullpen still has some good arms. The consensus seems to be that the Dodgers are not only the class of their division, but also that they’re the strongest team in the NL, probably by a wide margin.
Yet with so much pressure on them, they may want to look at making even more deals once the league unfreezes rosters. Here we look at three players the team could acquire via trade who could strengthen the roster even more. With a farm system that is still among the league’s best, they might be able to afford to land one or more of these players.
