Fantasy Football: Where is the best landing spot for a rookie wide receiver?

It’s a loaded wide receiver draft in 2020. If you’re a rookie coming into the NFL, where’s the best landing spot for you from a fantasy football standpoint?

If your favorite NFL team needs a wide receiver, the 2020 NFL Draft is the one for you. This has the chance to be the greatest receiver class of all time. A few will come off the board in the first round, but the depth is where this one will be different. Teams can get tremendous value as far back as in the early part of day three of the draft. What does this mean for fantasy football?

Surely, there are teams who are in need of No. 1 options. Though the guys’ favorite team in the Arizona Cardinals has been removed from contention because of the DeAndre Hopkins trade, you’ll find their answers pretty interesting.

Mike Wright thinks the best spot for a rookie wide receiver to go to is Hopkins’ former team in the Houston Texans. Houston has a few No. 2 options to work with in the offense, but quarterback Deshaun Watson really needs a No. 1 option heading into his fourth season out of Clemson. Look for Houston to try to solve this glaring issue in the upcoming draft.

Andy Holloway thinks the Philadelphia Eagles are the best potential landing spot for a rookie wide receiver. Like Houston, they have a young and proven starting quarterback in Carson Wentz. Philadelphia still won the division last year, but the receiving corps was decimated by the time the Eagles got to the Wild Card round. They could use an upgrade at this position group for sure.

Like Holloway, Jason Moore is a big fan of the Eagles here, but he opted to pick a third team for the sake of argument. He went with the Indianapolis Colts who outside of T.Y. Hilton don’t have a flashy receiving corps. They have a new quarterback in Philip Rivers who isn’t afraid to sling the pigskin. That means there’ll be plenty of targets for a rookie wide receiver in Indianapolis.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with any of these three landing spots. Houston is the most logical choice, but the Texans have made questionable moves this offseason. Who’s to say they’ll stop? Ultimately, the Eagles have to be the best option because they are the only team of this trio with a first-round pick, albeit late in round one. Philadelphia makes the most sense here.
