NFC. Minnesota Vikings. 60. Pick Analysis. player. Scouting Report. North. 4

While piling on the Cowboys is easy, it’s not fun to drag a team with a passionate fanbase like the Minnesota Vikings through the mud. Odds are, the Vikings will still end up being one of the seven teams who will make the NFC playoffs next season. However, it’s so hard to see them playing for a trip to the Super Bowl with Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback, to be quite honest.

Yes, Cousins is good, as he’s one of the most accurate passers in NFL history. However, the Stefon Diggs trade to the Buffalo Bills makes folks in Western New York happy and people in the Twin Cities wondering if the Super Bowl window has closed. It’s still open for maybe another two years, but those things do tend to shut in a hurry. But have the Vikings run out of time, though?

The NFC North should be competitive with the Green Bay Packers being solid and the Chicago Bears having a strong defense. It’s not like the Detroit Lions can be any worse than they were last year either. Minnesota can absolutely win the NFC North next year, but the Vikings won’t be the top seed in the conference. Do you seriously think Cousins can win three playoff games in a row?

No, it’s not just Cousins to watch, as he’s not going to be the reason this team will come up short. It’s not hard to read between the lines, but head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman don’t have the best working relationship. Those things matter when you’re playing for Super Bowls. For that reason, we won’t see the Vikings playing in the NFC Championship game.
