Perfect landing spots for the 10 best remaining free agents
4. Eli Apple, CB
Perfect Fit: Jacksonville Jaguars
There are a few teams that need help pretty much everywhere and the Jacksonville Jaguars are definitely one of them. The Jaguars are in the midst of a massive rebuild, but they still need capable NFL players to start games for them this year.
One guy who can start for them right now is Eli Apple, who saw a one-year deal with the Raiders fall apart during contract negotiations. Apple needs a place where he can regularly start and build some value for the following year, making a Jaguars’ team that needs bodies on defense a good spot for him to land.
3. Cam Newton, QB
Perfect Fit: Los Angeles Chargers
A former NFL MVP, Cam Newton’s career has certainly seen better days. Newton has taken a beating in his last few years with the Carolina Panthers, who cut him after he played in only two games in 2019.
There are few logical landing spots for Newton but one is the Los Angeles Chargers, who are in the market for a starter after letting Philip Rivers leave in free agency. Newton, who recently worked out with current Chargers’ starter Tyrod Taylor, could be an upside play for a team that is desperately trying to establish roots in the Los Angeles market.
