At WWE WrestleMania 36, The Undertaker defeated AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match.

If you’ve ever what happened when the old man keeps telling the kids to get off his lawn, you found out at WrestleMania 36. AJ Styles challenged The Undertaker to a Boneyard match, and paid a dear price for his efforts.

Over the last few weeks, Styles had made things personal with the resident phenom of WWE. Mentioning The Undertaker’s wife, bringing real life to the ring, only fueled the fire that The Undertaker would bring to the battle. And he showed up in familiar biker gear, riding the motorcycle we knew from years past. But not surprisingly, Styles didn’t come alone.

Styles’ OC buddies, Gallows and Anderson, showed up with druids to stack the odds against him. The action spilled to the roof of a building, where The OC tried to take their cheap shots. But they would pay for their involvement as Anderson took a Tombstone Piledriver that took him out of the equation. Taker would dispose of The OC and the druids, and turn his attention to Styles.

Styles delivered a punch that had almost zero effect, and moments later found himself getting chokeslammed from the top of the structure to the ground below. It was a thunderous move, that would leave him motionless.

But the unthinkable happened, and Styles was able to get back into control. He even managed to put The Undertaker into the grave, and was moments away from what seemed to be certain victory. But as he peered down into the grave before attempting to fill it with dirt, the mystery and mindgames of The Undertaker blindsided Styles. The Undertaker had vanished from the grave and was suddenly standing behind Styles. What followed was a big boot to the face, and Styles now in the grave where The Undertaker was just moments earlier.

He filled the grave, burying Styles under the dirt and added another WrestleMania victory to his legendary resume. And in the process, adding that while Styles may be “phenomenal,” he surely is not the PHENOM.
