Pick Analysis. Minnesota Vikings. 60. Scouting Report. NFC. North. 4. player

The Minnesota Vikings are in a similar situation as the Buffalo Bills in they’re good enough to win their division and maybe a playoff game or two and get to the conference championship. Where it is different though is we know what Kirk Cousins is as a quarterback. He’s good but will have to go on a run, unlike anything we’ve ever seen out of him for the Vikings to win the Super Bowl.

At his best, Cousins is a borderline top-10 quarterback in the league. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler and provides great stability to an offense in need of it. Cousins is one of the most accurate passers in the league and does a good job of leading his team to victories over teams the Vikings should beat. However, he tends to shrink in primetime games and major spots where he’s got to have it.

Perhaps he finally got the monkey off his back by beating the New Orleans Saints on the road in overtime on Wild Card Weekend last year? He outplayed Drew Brees in the Superdome and man, that pass to Adam Thielen to get into the red zone was a thing out beauty, wasn’t it? Too bad the Vikings followed up that week with a poor effort vs. the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

How good of a quarterback would the Vikings need over Cousins to get to and win a Super Bowl? They’d only need a minor upgrade, someone who’s top-eight in most people’s eyes. If the Vikings had a quarterback like Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, Deshaun Watson or Carson Wentz, that may be enough. Ultimately, there’s no margin for error to win it all with Cousins in Minnesota.
