While there was no crowd in attendance to see it happen, Drew McIntyre got his WrestleMania moment by defeating Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship in the main event of night two of WrestleMania 36.

In the main event of night two of WWE‘s WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE championship.

McIntyre earned this title shot by winning the 2020 men’s Royal Rumble match, during which he eliminated Lesnar. This earns McIntyre — a former intercontinental, tag team and NXT champion — his first WWE championship in his first shot at the title since he first signed with WWE more than a decade ago.

This also marks the end of Lesnar’s title reign that began back on Oct. 4, when he defeated Kofi Kingston in the main event of the premiere edition of WWE SmackDown on Fox.

Here is a recap and highlights of the matchup:

Lesnar came out on the attack right away, kicking McIntyre and assaulting him in a corner of the ring.

McIntyre got out of the ring and suddenly nailed a claymore, but he only got a two count.

McIntyre missed another claymore attempted and got suplexed for his troubles.

After another suplex, Lesnar nailed McIntyre with an F-5 but McIntyre shockingly kicked out on one. Lesnar nailed him with another F-5, but McIntyre kicked out once again at the count of two. Lesnar nailed a third F-5, but McIntyre kicked out once more.

McIntyre clawed over to Lesnar, and Lesnar picked McIntyre up for another F-5 attempt. But McIntyre countered and nailed three consecutive claymore kicks to score the pinfall and championship.

McIntyre then posed with the championship on the turnbuckle with Lesnar down and out in the middle of the ring.
