The Miami Dolphins could hold the key to the NFL Draftās first round with three first-round picks. This Dolphins mock draft has them taking a quarterback at No. 5.
As we inch closer to the 2020 NFL Draft, we continue to get a clearer picture of which prospects NFL teams could look to add to their roster heading into the 2020 season. Rumors are flying but every team is chasing one thing, a Lombardi trophy, and success in the draft is critical to realizing that dream.
In a time-honored tradition unlike any other, I have decided to add another 100-percent accurate mock draft to the Internet archives. To save all of the FanSided commentersā precious time, Iāve decided to include these helpful pre-written insults to hurl at me in the comments section. Feel free to copy and paste away!
- What are you thinking??!! The [insert team] would never pick [insert player] in [insert round]!

Without further ado, here is your seven-round 2020 mock draft for the Miami Dolphins:
It is no secret that Miami has the draft capital to get any player, let alone quarterback, that they like in this class. GM Chris Grier has said as much numerous times and it still rings true. So now the question becomesā¦who is that guy at quarterback? Will #TankForTua become a reality? Do the recent rumors suggesting their affection for trading up to take Joe Burrow have legs? Do they view Jordan Love as the next Patrick Mahomes?
All of these questions will be answered by the end of this month but for now, Iām going with Oregonās Justin Herbert to become the teamās next franchise quarterback.
Some of the star power of this quarterbacks class has diminished Herbertās shine to some degree but the Dolphins have reportedly done a ton of homework on him dating back to last season, and he could certainly get the nod if they arenāt able to trade up for Burrow. As much as Tua-to-Miami rumors have happened dating back to Week 1 of last season, it seems almost too good to be true at this point.
Itās telling that the rumors of trading up would be to select Burrow over Tua, which every team in the league knows that Miami could make happen if they really want it to.
With their franchise quarterback now in the fold, itās time to protect him. While Iām sure Alabamaās Jedrick Wills is high on their board, it doesnāt seem likely he comes anywhere close to this range in the first round. In that case, the Dolphins turn to Houstonās Josh Jones.
Jones is an outstanding athlete and could wind up as one of the best tackles from the entire class. He improved quite a bit over the course of his Houston career and has a tinge of nastiness to his game that should make him a tone-setter on the Dolphinsā offense.
I think Jones probably lands in this range with many teams around the NFL struggling for help on the offensive line. Heās rawer from a technical standpoint than Wills or Georgiaās Andrew Thomas, but I like his upside and thereās a good chance Miami does as well.
Even after adding Jordan Howard in free agency, Iād be shocked if the Dolphins donāt add a running back in the first two rounds of the draft.
Theyāve been connected to every running back under the sun in this class and here they land Ohio State standout J.K. Dobbins.
Dobbins has been a star since stepping onto the field in his freshman year for the Buckeyes and seems pretty likely to be one of the first few running backs off the board come draft day. He isnāt a flashy runner but knows how to churn yards and routinely saved his best performances in Ohio Stateās most important games.
Georgiaās DeāAndre Swift and Wisconsinās Jonathan Taylor are also possibilities here but if I had to take a wild guess, I think Dobbins would be their preference between the three.
