NFL new uniforms 2020: Buccaneers, Tom Brady look fantastic
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the midst of a lot of changes. But is a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2007 now dressed for success?
Without question, the biggest story during this NFL offseason has been six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots and preparing to wear a different uniform this fall.
Then again, anyone playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 will also be donning some new attire.
The franchise that first took the field in 1976 wearing those amazing orange Creamsicle-like unis and then switched to their pewter costumes in 1997. Then, a few years back, they became human alarm clocks.
Now, the Buccaneers are once again changing things up.

On Tuesday afternoon, a franchise that hasn’t been to the postseason in over a decade went back to the pewter power look. Of course, we have seen other franchises makes changes when it comes to this area of the team and wound up with immediate results.
A few examples include the 1981 Cincinnati Bengals, who went from the words BENGALS on the side of a helmet to their current stripes. That season resulted in the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance. In ’97, the Denver Broncos went modern after years of the “D and bucking bronco” on the side of their helmet. The season resulted in the first of back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
Somewhat loosely related, the Tennessee Oilers became the Tennessee Titans in 1999 and understandably, that club revamped its entire look. Nonetheless, the franchise originally known as the Houston Oilers went onto Super Bowl XXXIV.

Of course, making changes to a team’s uniform hardly guarantees any kind of success in the National Football League or sports in general. But some of the coincidences make for good fun. Of course, Tom Brady comes to Tampa with an abundance of jewelry.
On the other hand, the Buccaneers – who won Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002 – have just a starter set when it comes to championship rings. Perhaps that changes this season and in front of the home crowd in Tampa next February.
In any case, Bruce Arians’ team hopes to look as good in 2020 as they do in their new duds.
