Fantasy football 2020 AFC East preview and breakdown
By Bill Pivetz
For fantasy football, the AFC East has the talent to draft a full team but it’ll likely be found in the later rounds.
The AFC East has been a one-team division for the better part of two decades. There was a season or two that another team competed but it was the New England Patriots division. Now, the landscape has changed, giving way to a new team to step up. For fantasy football, this division has talent at the skill positions.
The main story was Tom Brady signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This leaves the Patriots with a huge hole to fill at the quarterback position. The move also decreases the fantasy value of the pass catchers.
The Bills made a big trade for a top-20 wide receiver, giving their young quarterback another weapon to target. The Dolphins continue to frustrate fantasy owners with their running back situation. They have a couple of other sleepers on their offense.
The Jets have most of the pieces in place to have an effective offense. However, the coaching staff may limit their abilities. Fantasy owners have dealt with Adam Gase when he was in Miami. Things aren’t looking that good so far for the Jets. They didn’t have an 800-yard running back or a 900-yard receiver.
I will be doing a piece for all eight divisions, leading up to (hopefully) week 1 of the 2020 fantasy football season. I will break down the offensive depth charts for each team, let you know which players are worth drafting and which ones you should avoid. I will also include a player I see breaking out due to the moves made this offseason.
Based on your league’s settings, each owner values a player differently. A 2QB league will boost the value of quarterbacks more than a 1QB league will. The same can be said for leagues with multiple flex spots or a super-utility spot.
So, without further ado, here is my 2020 fantasy football breakdown of the first AFC division, the AFC East, starting with the Buffalo Bills.
