Fantasy football 2020 AFC East preview and breakdown
By Bill Pivetz
QB: Sam Darnold
RBs: Le’Veon Bell, Trenton Cannon
WRs: Breshad Perriman, Jamison Crowder, Quincy Enunwa
TEs: Chris Herndon, Ryan Griffin
The Jets have made some big moves over the last couple of seasons to improve their performance. Bringing in an All-Pro running back last season didn’t lead to team success but things should be better in 2020. Entering the season, there are players at each position I wouldn’t mind having on my team.
Darnold had a better season but he missed three games again. He threw for 3,024 yards, 19 touchdowns and 13 picks. The TD:INT ratio needs to improve if Darnold is going to break into the top 15 of quarterbacks.
Bell had 245 carries but he was not successful in the process. He had 789 yards, three touchdowns and a 3.2 YPA. Entering his age-28 season, Bell will likely see more of a decline. He’s a borderline RB2 in 12-team leagues. I don’t want to touch any other running back on this team.
The addition of Perriman gives Darnold another weapon. However, there are rumors that the Jets will use their first-round pick on a wide receiver. Crowder is the team’s top receiver. Enunwa’s 2019 ended early due to a neck injury and there are rumors he may not play this season, making the Jets first-round pick even more important.
With the question marks at wide receiver, Herndon could be the breakout player. He dealt with a lot of issues last season including a four-game suspension, hamstring injury and then broken ribs. His status is unknown, giving way to Griffin stepping up early in the season.
With Brady signing with Tampa Bay, this division is wide open. For fantasy football, there’s some good talent on each team. However, not many of them are stars that will win you your league. The next division will be the AFC North.
