Washington Redskins Third Round Pick

player. Pick Analysis. Lucas Niang. OT. TCU. 66. 872. Scouting Report

If the Redskins plan to go all-in with Dwayne Haskins as their starting QB, they will want to surround him with the talent needed to succeed. Currently, Washington has Lucas Cornelius and Morgan Moses in place as their two starting tackles. Trent Williams is also on the roster, but he wants out of Washington and could get his wish on draft night.

The Redskins would be wise to select an offensive tackle like Lucas Niang in this spot to pair with Haskins for years to come. He is agile and has a very high football IQ. Niang is versatile in the style of blocking that he can succeed with, and will use his 6-foot-6 size to power through opposing defenders. The TCU product has the agility to be able to move with a mobile QB like Haskins, and his run blocking success for the Horned Frogs was eye-opening. Niang will have to be checked out medically as he had a few injuries in college, but everything seems to be progressing in the right direction. He has the talent to step into the right tackle role for the Redskins on day 1, and he would likely stay there for years to come.
